The power of custom networking

At my recent local swapmeet i met a man selling hotrod dvd's. As there were mostly farming parts and old tractor engines around this stall came as a warm welcome. With a friendly G'day i soon found out this swapper helped start the now iconic Sydney Rat Rod Day. I had never been to the show but read much about it. I think after an hour of story selling i knew how it began and was honoured to meet someone with such a connection to the Sydney scene.
Just goes to show
You just never know

What started it for me

This is my 1965 ford xp falcon, it was the first for alot of things. What i learnt though was put simply by cole foster that you can work on a car for 3 years and it can look like you achieved nothing.
How bikes are so different.

Aussie shed

Went to a mate house about an hour from mine. I had to go through sugartown aka woodburn which is a town based around the sugar factory and a couple of motels, 1 or 2. Then onto some dirt tracks, dodging some roos and finding his house. Anyway ron told me he wanted to show me his midget racer. A vintage race car he is running off a 42 wla harley davidson. This thing is preety sweet all bends were done by melting led into tubes, letting them cool them bending them as if they were solids. When he had his shape he simply heats the led and watches it drain right out.
He had all these old tools like a gas welder and screw press which looked to be straight out of some 1950's factory.
Was a fun morning shame the chop wasn't up for the ride.

Tank

Australian made. Something futuristic about these things. Although they used to only hold fuel the shape was way ahead of its time.

Got the bug again

So my sister just got a little mg

4 cyl sports car 1970 model. Man it gave me the bug again. I used to own a 1965 ford xp falcon as my first car and i regretted selling in. So this is what i would get now a 59 holden fc/fe and do it up just like this. I would have a header pipe for those street races but really just to cruise.

We will see how long this bug hangs around for

Back to brunswick heads 2010

I only got to see the sunday morning show. But from what i saw it looked great. Alot of people around with differennt cars on the river bank of brunswick heads. The star celebrity JIMMY SHINE was there. I didn't get to meet him but my mate is the manager of the pub there and said they had to kick him out when they were closing and some lady was in shock towards my mate
"You just told Jimmy shine to leave"!
My mate said
"I donno who jimmy shine is''
