Bye for now

So I’m heading off now from blog world. It's been fun but I’m getting too busy these days and I feel I’m about to start a new journey in my motorcycle world. In no way am I leaving a ‘trend’ or whatever someone wishes to label it, yet venturing into a stage of riding to really become a dirty, scummy and hated of the world, biker. 'Into the wild' is how I am looking at it.

I still plan to use 'As it Was' as a label I don't know what for or when but at this point in time its art and I'm keen to explore the unknown.

As my mate always says;
‘See ya on the road’- which really is where bikers should meet.

WOW!

You like history? You think you know cars? Im reading the 10 part series on Autoculture of the 'History of the ratrod'
It offers a non biased and very depth story of how a new breed of hotrod emerged.

Period perfect

I think i stole this photo from dice but the king and queen seat along with other subtle touches makes this a period perfect bike. Things like the seat, footpegs, bars amd kicker pedals were all things available via catalogue back in the day.

Simple life

This is one of my favourite parts of the film American graffiti. The quiet scene with cars and if i remember a train in the background just reminds you of what it was like back then. The simplicity. Cops on steak outs and pranks buy big kids aka the Pharoahs cc. Cool cars, fun times and small towns.

Von Franco

Stolen from his personel blog. Cool story that his pickup was used as a background car in the 70's. You might know it. American Graffitti.

The flat black helmet

Is as much of Australian bike history as Harleys are to American choppers. Outlaws and chopper riders have worn and continue to wear them. Outlaw or not its part of Australian bike culture and you bet i have one!

The power of custom networking

At my recent local swapmeet i met a man selling hotrod dvd's. As there were mostly farming parts and old tractor engines around this stall came as a warm welcome. With a friendly G'day i soon found out this swapper helped start the now iconic Sydney Rat Rod Day. I had never been to the show but read much about it. I think after an hour of story selling i knew how it began and was honoured to meet someone with such a connection to the Sydney scene.
Just goes to show
You just never know
